Situated south of the Darkreach Realms, beyond the Narram peaks, is the kingdom known as Goraukia. It is a vast and arid desert land that stretches for hundreds of miles. In the approximate center of the desert, deep inside an immense rift lies a sprawling city. The city of Demon-men known as Goraukia. This city is home to thousands of creatures called Cabalans.  Cabalans are a race derived from Cambion and Alu-Fiend inbreeding.

Around 100 PA, a group of priests worshipping the evil god Mordre, fled Darkreach with 20 of their followers. The priests wanted to form their own kingdom based on the worship of their god. They reached the area that is now the city of Goraukia, and built a small temple to Mordre.  When the temple was completed, the high priest performed an evil rite of summoning.  The high priest wanted one of his lords minor demons to come forth and do his bidding.  A cunning and powerful Cambion heard the priests summons and answered his call. The cambion, Goran FÄerauko, struck a devilish pact with the high priest. If the priest would leave the rift he had created open, Goran and his fellows would serve the priest and his evil desires.  The pact lasted only as long as the cambion remained in the protective circle around the rift. Once the priest released the half-demon, Goran and his brethren burst forth and slaughtered the priests and their followers.  With the rift open, Goran brought hundreds of his cambion followers and thier female counterparts, the alu-fiends, into the land. Awayfrom the slavery and torture of their demon masters, the cambions and alu-fiends flourished. Goran knew that in order for them to survive, he would have to keep some kind of order among his brethren.  He created an Imperium and named himself emperor, his most trusted leuitenants became his court. The land around the rift, once a temperate forestland, had turned barren and empty because of the rift to the lower planes being opened and unprotected for so long. Goran and his minions built an immense city that eventually covered over 20 square miles within and along the edges of the rift. The city took 50 years to finish, and is still being expanded upon even today.

Around the time when major construction was finished on the city, Goran began to send out scouting parties to all points around the city.  Eventually the cambions mapped the area, west to the endless sea, east to the southern reaches of the Nelledron mountain range, south to the coast of the sea of stars, and north to the Narram peaks. When the cambion scouts passed over the Nelledron mountain range, they found an arid desert devoid of humaniod life. It stretched for hundreds of miles east to the coast of the Marconian ocean.  When they found a pass through the Narram Peaks, they found a temperate land, filled with life.  The cambions had entered Darkreach.

Soon after coming to Tirem, the cambions and Alu-Fiends realized that they could now bear offspring.  A new race was formed from these offspring, called Cabalans.  Cabalans make up the bulk of the Goraukian population.   Approximately 50 years after the cambions had come to Tirem, they had their first contact with the people of Darkreach. Goran, eager to enslave the people of this new land, sent forth a large raiding party of 25 cabalans.  A small outlying farming community south of the city of Xelos was razed.  The people either horribly mutilated and tortured, or captured as slaves. The cabalans moved on northward.  When the city of Xelos came into view, they thought they had found a great treasure of slaves and victims.  They were wrong.  A griffon scout from the cities Khelekian Airborne Elite spotted the party of cabalans.  He immediately reported back to the Octahold.  The entire elite was roused, and took to the air.   Parley was attempted with the cabalans, and met with a hail of arrows.  The cabalans were sorely outmatched, and shortly fell to the elite.  Two of the cabalans managed to escape, however, and made haste back to Goraukia. When Goran heard of the defeat, he was enraged. Taking this new land as his own would not be as simple as he anticipated.

Since their first encounter with the people to Darkreach, Goran and his followers have made small raids into Darkreach. He is trying to gauge the strength and resolve of the Tiranian people. He has sent spies and made a network of contacts in the Darkreach Realms.  Goran bides his time.
